Tuesday March 30

Good morning everyone! If you are seeing the these posts could you please send me an email at kmaiken@edu.pe.ca. In that email please let me know what kind of access your child has for technology. Do they have access to a computer? Printer? Only an iPad or phone? Do they share with a parent or siblings? Do you have internet? This will help me to decide what and how to plan for the upcoming weeks.

I have a few links to share with you. Also please let me know if you cannot access google classrooms. I see that a few people are having issues with the passwords that have been given. I have an email in to ask about them. It seems to be a system wide issue.

I am going to try and send it to a request to the parent email and see if that works 🤷🏻‍♀️ This type of learning is all new for me too. Thank you for your patience!

One of the teachers at school is an amazing artist and is drawing a step by step picture a day for the students to follow. Here is the link for yesterday and today:

Another great site that I have access to is education.com. It has grade level activities for the kids to do. I will email around the individual code for each child.

There is a spot to put the code I give you.

Here is a link to request your child’s username and password if it is not working:

Monday March 30

Well here we are heading into the second week of home learning!  It’s a new adventure for all of us.  I am not meant to be a home school mom, lol!

The Public Schools Branch is continuing to provided activities for the parents to do with your children for this week. Here is the link and screen shots of the activities provided for the kindergarten age group:

These are great ideas and things that we would be doing in class.

If you don’t have access to a large amount of books you can always use Tumble books on the Stratford Library site. Epic books is another great site but costs $10/month or just look some up on Youtube, there are a lot of really neat books on there!

Make sure to get some reading, counting and outdoors in each day!

Computer Info Update

Hi everyone!

I believe that I got an email or contacted each family to pass out the user name and passwords for your child.  I attached them as a picture so please check the attachment.  Groupwise has not been working especially well in the last while, so if you did not receive an email or the picture isn’t attached (sometimes I forget to attach) please contact me right away and I will send it to you again.

I have some online games set up in Google Classroom and provided an access code for your child to use those games.  I am going to look into adding more material in the coming days.  Also Raz-Kids, a really great reading program, has offered their program for free until the end of the school year. I would strongly urge you all to set up an account and take advantage of the offer.

Stay safe, self-isolate, and practice social distancing so we can get back to normal quickly!!

Talk to you soon,

Kelley

Computer Information

I’ve been sending emails out to everyone but my email just seems to have quit on me. It keeps kicking me out in the middle of writing and now just keeps spinning now.

If you didn’t get the email, it’s on it’s way!! I will take a break for a few minutes and see if it will come back.

I am giving out a code for our google classroom too. It has some online games that your child can play.

Also Raz-kids has opened their site for free until the end of the school year. Set up an account and take advantage of the site!

Some Information

Hi everyone!

I hope everyone is still staying home and safe!! It’s been a busy/fun week at our house. We are trying to get some school work in but still having lots of fun!! Rylan is doing school from home. He goes to The Mount Academy and they had a February break so they would have been in school last week and this week too. They have also shut down until the beginning of April.

I am working on a special something for the children for tomorrow. My email is not working great, I tried to send an email two times in the last few days but I don’t think it went through (or it went through a lot 🤣).

I have computer passwords to send to you all. I am going to try and get that down tonight or tomorrow. This will allow your child to access some sites that PSB has posted as well as google classroom. On our google classroom, I have some games on there that the students can play. I subscribe to education.com and it allows me to share the games in google classroom.

So be on the look out for a special post for the students tomorrow!

March 23

Hello everyone!

I hope you enjoyed a restful March Break and got spend lots of quality family time!

Our family has enjoyed the down time but it will soon wear off as we are used to being on the go!!

All our baby puppies have gone to their forever homes. Our family was extremely happy to see what a gift we have given others with their new puppies! I love that some of the families surprised their children and extended family. We kept one of the puppies and that is giving us lots to keep us busy! We now have 3 children and 3 dogs 😳 I like to live on the edge a bit, what can I say 🤷🏻‍♀️

This is an unusual time in our world where we are all asked to take a step back and self isolate. This is a very hard time for everyone involved and as unfortunate as it is, if we all do our part and stay home it will end quickly!

Until today it hasn’t sunk in that we won’t be back to school for a while and didn’t realize how much I would miss seeing all your children’s faces after the break!!

The Public Schools Branch has placed some items on their site for you to do with your child each day to keep them engaged in learning. Please make sure to keep it fun and light. I am going to post some links for you have for reference. Do some art, go for a drive, go for a walk, do a scavenger hunt in the house or neighborhood. Read some books together and practice printing and counting, do some tapping of words and play some Trick Word games!!

I will try to send a video a couple times a week on the blog so keep an eye out for posts!! Please feel free to send me pictures of things you are doing at home via email (kmaiken@edu.pe.ca)

I miss all of the children and all the ways they make me laugh each day!! Hope to see them soon 😊

Just let your child play, create and be imaginative!!

Leprechaun Trap 🍀

Well we set a trap and hope to catch a leprechaun this week before St.Patricks Day and March Break!

The children worked really hard today to build this trap. There was lots of problem solving, team work and effort put in to this.

Only leprechauns

Not a leprechaun trap

Leprechaun girl friends 🤣
