Hockey Sticks

I forgot to mention that some of the children have been asking to bring hockey sticks to school. This is okay as long as they are mini sticks and are being used appropriately!

There is usually quite a game of mini sticks going on the playground most days!!

January 20-24

God morning!

That was a wild and wooly weekend! Lots of snow and stormy weather. I hope everyone stayed safe and got a chance to play in the snow. I enjoyed some time with my family and snuggling puppies ❤️

Literacy:

We are working on writing a simple sentence that matches our pictures and using some trick words when we write.

We will begin reading today. This will just be an introduction group and later in the week we will take home a book.

Fundations this week is an assessment week. At home you can practice printing letters and letter sounds. Next week we will begin Unit 2.

Numeracy:

We are still working on learning the numbers 1-10. We are learning to recognize, count and build sets of a given number. This week we will talk about the number 7.

Have a great week!

January 13-17

Good morning!

Well this hasn’t been a great start to January and the new year for me. My oldest daughter has been sick and then our dog had puppies earlier than expected!

We are super excited about our new babies and were expecting them on the weekend but they decided to come Friday morning! We welcomed 9 beautiful golden retrievers; 6 girls and 3 boys!

Literacy:

We will be beginning our last two letters in Fundations today and last week in unit 1. I have both last week and this weeks homework to go home.

We will continue work on writing and the structure of a sentence.

In the next week we will begin to start our reading groups. This will be done first thing in the morning from 8:30-9:15, so it is very important for the children to be here no later than 8:30. I will try to send 1 book home each week for your child to read to you but THEY NEED TO BE RETURNED BY FRIDAY OF THAT WEEK OR A NEW BOOK WON’T GO HOME.

Numeracy:

We are moving into numbers 6-10. This week we will learn how to print the number 6, what it looks like and what comes before and after.

I’m looking forward to getting back into a routine and learning!

Have a great week,

Kelley

January 6-10

Happy New Year!! Welcome Back to school!! I’m sure you are all ready for routine. I hope you all had a great break.

We will be getting back into the routine of the classroom, re-visiting the rules and routines of the classroom after the long break.

We will continue on with Fundations and will be starting a new unit this week. The homework will go home tomorrow.

In numeracy we will start working with the numbers 6-10. We will be breaking them apart into parts, building them and learning to print the numerals.

Have a great first week back to school!

Kelley

December 9-13

Good morning parents!

Well this is shaping up to be an exciting week! The children are bouncy already. We have two birthdays today, concert tomorrow and a full moon Thursday!

Our concert is tomorrow at 1:10 and then again at 6:00. The children can arrive at the school for the evening show at 5:30. Just bring them to the classroom.

If you need anymore concert tickets please let me know by the end of the day. I have a few for the afternoon and a few for the evening. It will be first come first serve!

We will be having a Christmas socks fundraiser on Monday December 16. Please send in a dollar to support the school.

December 18 is our class field trip to bowling. I will send home the permission slip today. Please sign it and send it back with the money as soon as possible. The cost is $5.00 per student.

December 20 is our Christmas sweaters fundraiser. Please send in a donation of $1.00 if you can.

For Fundations we will be continuing on with last weeks lessons as the children didn’t get a full week and because this week is crazy too.

Math will still be patterns until Christmas break.

Next week we will be doing a good drive for the school. If you have extra food and would like to donate something please send it in with your child.

Have a great week! I’m tired already 😴😴
